New Music Review: October

  1. Josh Ritter Sermon on the Rocks

He’s a big hit in Ireland. He’s from Brooklyn. Josh Ritter is a singer-songwriter that has some upbeat and catchy songs on this new release.

Standout Track: “Get Ready to Get Down”

2. Big K.R.I.T. It’s Better This Way

I’m a 0% fond of Southern Rap’s current obsession with Trap a la Future, Migos, Young Thug, et al. I’m am a much bigger fan of the trunk-blasting tracks from last decade, and Big K.R.I.T. falls squarely in the latter category. His narratives are intriguing (and I can comprehend the lyrics) and the soulful instrumentals create a cohesive mixtape. Plus, Ludacris shows up!!!

Standout Track: “Shakem Off (feat. Ludacris, K. Camp)”

3. Selena Gomez Revival

She’s grown up and she wants everyone to know. The message is clear, but it’s also mesmerizing.

Standout Track: “Good For You (feat. A$AP Rocky)”

4. Joe Budden All Love Lost

The best piece of Slaughterhouse comes out with a new record and it’s a downer, but a good, solid piece of rap. Budden’s delivery makes you pay attention to each and every work. So good.

Standout Track: “Broke”
